Important Key Points to keep in mind when the material arrives:
Staff and Colocation Equipment
– Have the adequate personnel for the reception, unloading and placement of the material.
– Large-Format Porcelain Tiles (120cm x 240cm or larger) require special instruments for their handling and an adequate number of personnel.
– Have the correct and necessary equipment for cutting the materials as well as adequating the surfaces to avoid damage to the material.
Construction Surface
– Check the surface where the material will be placed, ensure that the area is flat, settled, has the correct planimetry and free of work debris.
Review and Disposal of Materials
– Before starting the porcelain plates’ installation, check that the materials correspond to the same batch, tone and caliber. This information is available in the box package identified with letters and/or numbers.
– Use always adhesives and pastine according to the material to be placed. The types of adhesives recommended will be different depending on the size of the plates and the exposure to large variations in temperature.
– Follow the manufacturers’ instructions indicated on the box package regarding minimum expansion joints. The space between the plates compensates the small differences in caliber and absorbs the movement of the base or from the product itself.
– Follow the manufacturer’s instructions indicated on the package box regarding locking between plate and plate when placement chosen is with a “locking design”. Our recommendation is to lock them at a maximum of 20% of their length.
– Have a notched trowel to dose the adhesive correctly. In formats larger than 60×60cm, double glu is recommended to distribute the adhesive on the plate and also on the surface where will be placed as well.
– Use levellers.
End of Work
– Once the material has been placed, cover it until the rest of the work has finished in order to prevente it from being damaged.
– Once the work is finished, the final cleaning must be done with “standard cleaning products” not abrasive. Check eventually whith the SBG.
